Should I hold out? What really caught my attention was the Pearl Vigor Blue color scheme. I could buy a used Gen3 and paint it exactly the same. ....but used bikes aren't selling for cheap either and I'd probably have to travel quite a distance from this little isolated burg in the UP of Michigan to get it.

I love the raised lettering on the fuel tank. ....and I actually like the SPECIAL EDITION emblem. The blue with white just floors me and I love the blue wheels. I'm actually quite smitten by this bike. No way I'd let my wild looking 40th Anniversary ZX-14R go nor my stunning black and burnt orange 08 Hayabusa. ...but this Pearl Vigor Blue and Brilliant White 2026 busa has me swooning.

$19,6. Good price? He's not charging anything for anything but the bike and tax. According to the quote, freight, prep, everything is free. I'd just need to buy a license and title. It's a dealership about seven miles from my home so transporting it would be no problem. ...otherwise, probably Milwaukee which is a 400 mile round trip, probably a cost of about $500 in travel.

Think I'd get some nice rebates if I wait until spring? Riding season is done here as far as I'm concerned. I won't ride a bike until May at the earliest.

$19,600. Do I take it or leave it?
I bought my 22 for $10,250. It had less than 400 miles on it.

Found it at a BMW/Indian/Triumph dealer that has a policy of getting off-brand motorcycles, especially sportbikes off their floor quickly.

Sounds like you really like the paint scheme, and it’s not widely available with demand. So the only real question is..

Can you afford it? Meaning, will your budget be stretched or will you not notice the money being gone?

I’ve financed a motorcycle or two over the years but what I have learned is that it’s too risky to finance a toy that can be destroyed in an instant through no fault of my own. Ask me know I know.

I pay cash.

how is your retirement savings?

Have a couple months of expenses in cash?

Is buying this motorcycle driving you to sacrifice any spending? (Red flag ppl miss out ignore).

These will come up on the used market with low miles because dreamers will overspend and sell, so if you have to wait, wait.

I never would have bought my ‘22 even though I love it without a screaming deal because by nature I’m cheap. Plus, I saw it after I had all ready maxed my 401k and IRA for the year (November).

Be honest with yourself and make sure your money is right before sieben on $20k toys.

Remember, tine in the market is what gets you ahead, not market timing, day trading, options or any of that bullshit. Pay yourself first! Put your money in the market and let it sit.

Sorry for the dad lecture….

The pictures are visible and your bike is a beauty........you've obviously done a lot of work to it and it shows....
Thanks Bumblebee. I was in the middle of replacing the chain and sprockets plus installing raising links when I had the crash on my other bike. Also possible rectifier upgrade. I never had the motivation to finish any of that so there she sits in storage since 2021. I'll have the bike running this summer though.

The money's been waiting since October. I almost have enough to buy another bike now! ...don't worry, I won't. ...for a while.

I pay cash.
I always have too. If I don't have the money, I don't need it.

how is your retirement savings?
I have to start taking a look at that. I have a couple small pensions and started a 401K with the new job. My mom started a mutual fund for me years ago, fortunately. I don't know what all she has invested for me, I guess I better start figuring that out. I've been pretty poor up until the last 6 years. Most of the years before age 57, I was making not enough or just barely enough to support myself so I didn't save anything until the last few years. I don't really know how it's all going to go financially but I doubt 20 thousand dollars is going make a lot of difference now. I'm probably not going to invest in anything high risk/high yield. The time for that has passed. The plan right now is if I don't have enough money, keep working! I'm ok with that. I need to figure out my retirement situation though and seriously, I'm planning how I'll go into a nursing home before I become as disabled as my parents are right now.

Have a couple months of expenses in cash?
Easily a year, assuming no extreme changes in my life occur.

None. It's causing me to spend money on mods though!

Already put the two-thousand down, made a deal and I'm sticking to it. I was dirt poor working as a substitute teacher and a CNA for six years and still managed to buy the 08 Hayabusa with divorce settlement money. I had an 08 ZX-14 at the time too. I kept both bikes no matter how poor I was working menial jobs and paying child support. I ate flour mixed with water and lots of potatoes for a while. The way I see it, I deserved the bikes. I treasured them and still own both although the 08 ZX-14 was completely destroyed in a crash in 2022. It's now a parts bike for my new Gen1 ZX-14 when I get it someday. Already salvaged the fuel tank overflow tube to use on my Gen2 ZX-14. Saved me eighty bucks, the overflow tube is about 12 different tubes, fittings and clips so it's not cheap to buy a new one. The point is, bikes are first in my life. I've went without other things to own them and if I had to again, I sure would.

Put your money in the market and let it sit.
I'll investigate into it further. There's been some sitting since I was about 24 (Mom). I don't enjoy the work I do now. I don't hate it, it's actually pretty easy but I couldn't see doing it without rewarding myself.

I have an advantage most don't and probably wouldn't want. I've been living with Mom and Dad for the last four years and all I pay for right now are groceries. I'll inherit the house and the taxes. I help them out a bit although I'm usually at work or sleeping during their waking hours. This and the future look pretty good to me considering I doubt I'll ever get married again. I agree though, it's time to start taking stock so I know what to expect. I think it's going to be working until I'm 70 or more and that's fine.
