quick question

hi guys just a quick question ,my 2008 busa,side stand down ignition is on but not the engine running and the red kill switch is in the off position ,i seems my temp guadge goes straight to the top ,is this the way it should be.

First off , why would you do that; stop it.

Did you just finish a good ride prior to this discovery ? If so it might be a correct indication.

And, no I will not go in the garage and try to duplicate this scenario

I believe that is correct, they will sweep when you first turn the key on and then stabilize until you start it.

oh yes when the red kill switch is pressed to the run position the temp goes down to were it should be ,i have had this bike for some time and done a good few miles on it ,i just noticed this when i pulled up to refuel

That would be normal if the bike is still in gear or not quite in neutral properly.....what does the gear indicator show.
