And that was in front of my old house, doing all of ten MPH, not 120-something at the dragstrip!

I could ride circles around you, literally, on that scooter! One night at the track, I got my check from the tower, and started a wheelie from the front of staging, rode one all the way down the track, with no feet on the floorboard, made the first turnoff, and rode all the way down the return road, turned the corner at the entrance to staging and had to sit it down coming out of the corner!
