POLICE FOUND THE BIKE

Maybe instead of the donuts, we can all just remember that some cops do a great job taking evil people off the street and recovering hard working people's private property.

Great News!

Unfortunately she is not ALWAYS by the bike.  Sometime I have to use her skills in other areas.

Noise maker alarms do not work.  My friend had a Scorpio alarm on his bike when it was jacked at a coffee shop here in Houston.  Witnesses all told the cops that four guys came up to the bike.  One was carrying a helmet and wearing a Joe Rocket Jacket, appearing to be the owner.  When someone asked why they were loading the bike into a truck, the thief calmly said he lost his key and was just trying to get the bike HOME!!  What's worse...?  The witness actually helped them LOAD THE BIKE feeling sorry for the thief losing his key!!!  The alarm was going off the entire time making noise!

My system doesn't make a sound.   The bike simply will not start.  If it is being moved, sat on or taken... the bike literally sends my cell a text message.  If in 30 seconds I do not disarm the bike, it goes fully active and notifies the call center.  The call center then tries to contact me.  If they cannot reach me or I do not have my bike in sight they immediately activate the police dispatch.  Two things happen here... One, the bike geocaches police info systems in their cars and shows a theft in progress with my info and the actual Google World Maps location, speed and altitude of the bike.  Secondly the call center gives the same info directly to the Police dispatch.  While the bike is active, its bluetooth searches for any cell phones in area and if found, copies their ESN sending it to the call center for further tracking.

The first system I installed on a friend's bike was tested 3 weeks later.  He parked it at a movie theater and went inside with his girlfriend.  Idiot turned off his cell and was outside the range of the keyfob to catch the notification.  While inside, four guys dumped his bike onto a mattress, lifted it up into the bed of a truck and proceeded to drive across Houston to a chop shop.  They decided the first shop's price offer wasn't good enough so they went to a second location where they made a deal.  Cops were watching the entire time!  When the deal went down, the cops moved in and busted them all.  At the first stop, 14 stolen bikes were recovered along with Hundreds of parts and three computers all filled with tens of thousands of parts listed on eBay and Craigs.  Seven arrests were made and then on to the second stop.  Three arrests were made at the second stop as two of the original thieves fled on foot.  Another 5 bikes were recovered including one POLICE Escort Harley that had been stolen the week before!!  All this from tracking One Bike!!
Great sales presentation....how much?

I couldn't believe it myself, I had to see it. They told me at first it was fine, but when I got there they said a cop put down that it wasn't driveable. When we went and looked at the bike, it was the only one without damage and on a kickstand. The only thing they did, which was strange, was paint the hump behind the rear seat silver. The other problem was they cut the wires to the ignition to try and jump start it. I held the wires together and all the lights came on. I check the odometer and i don't think they put any miles on it, maybe 10. The key was in which is why that is strange. I had another key though. I haven't tried to start it. I am going to reconnect the wires and try it out. I don't think they could get it started since you have to knwo the bike to start it, and the battery was dead when they stole it. Nothing was missing, and they never dropped it.

They found it on a street, noone was arrested but I really don't care. I really want to make sure they didn't burn up the engine. The rear tire is fine so there were no burnouts. It cost me $180 to get it out, but thats a small price to pay. It is just like it was before except for the silver hump which makes it stand out even more. I think they gave up and coudn't figure out how to start it. Believe me I will be sending something to the cops that found it.

I had AAA come pick it up and drop it off. I couldn't freakin believe it, I was dancing at the impound. Since they had to try and hot wire it, I guess it was stolen from the person who stole it, or they lost the key. I need to change that out anyway.

I will post some pics today. At least they took care of it. Everything is there, but I think that has alot to do with the forum and not being able to start it. I had planned to take it down to have teh PCIII adjusted since it runs so lean.

Two questions. Are the forks suppose to lock? And the other question is whether I only need to turn the key one knotch to start it. I couldn't get the key in at first, but was finally able to and get it toturn one notch.

If anyone knows how to hot wire one, let me know. It would let me test the engine first since I have to remove a few things to solder the 8 wires back together.

I will have an alarm one way or another.
Thanks to everyone and to the forum which probably kept them from selling it off by part or drag racing it.

Damn I can't believe they found. I think it either died and they couldn't start itor it ran out of gas. The didn't try to hide it so there can't be that many problems. I gat the address where they found it and the case number, although I don't really car, she is home.
Ill be there on the first, the guy with the black bike bike and silver hump.
later,
Kennh

Great that they found it in ok condition.. sometimes you hope that if it's in bad shape that they won't find it so that you can collect the insurance.

You had to pay money to get it out of impound lot... isn't that a ***** since you are the victim. I got tickets for someone stealing my registration... their's something seriously wrong with the system! Victims shouldn't have to pay for a crime committed against them.

Anyhow, glad you got your baby back and hope you get her back on the road soon!

lol i agree.. haha

but good to hear you got her back

I just looked it up and it was .5 miles away.  I live on the Dallas Parkway, and it was found right off the Dallas Parway.  4607 Temberglen.  Thats not even a mile or half mile down the freakin tollway.  There are apartments there. Im guess the police were driving through it and saw it with no plates.  I can't believe it was that freakin close. I doubt it ever left there since I put fliers on every door in my complex, and you have to drive by it to leave that area.  I still think it was from someone in the circle at my apartment since they would know when I leave town.

I added the picture below. If you go to the link on the first page, you will its the same bike, just a different color hump.

smalltimer, such good news! You are one out of a thousand. Just a small point....I'm a retired LA copper that worked many stolen motorcycles (including my own maxed out KZ 1000) the probable reason it was hotwired was that a "senior" AH of the group was either practicing "how to" on the ign ition or was instructing a younger homeboy on how to light up the ignition w/o a key (even though they had one). As a jailer years ago in Los Angeles Central Jail I used to listen to those types of conversations through the vent ducts! Again, congrats! Raydog

Your not kidding, I never heard of someone getting there bike biack, like the last one I had stolen. When we were driving through the impound, mine was the only one that was still intact. They only had three wires stripped. When I held them together the lights came on but the wires got hot. What is also stranger is that there was a resistor on one of the wires. I can't figure out why. I hope I can get my key to turn the whole way to try to start it after I finish rewiring it. I think they were shoving crap in the key hole because I couldn't get it to turn at first. Now I can put it in and turn it one click. I don't remember if there was another turn or not, but I think there was. You haved to push the key in and turn, but that is as far as I can go, I think there is one more turn. Otherwise Im going to try and hot wire it myself just to see.
I never thought they would found, I just had time to call and check. I called on my last bike for a year before I gave up
