A buddy and I are planning a trip to Vegas on July 3rd. Currently we are looking at staying at the Plaza hotel. We would stay on the strip but prices are just stupid high. Prices at the Plaza hotel are between $29 and $49 a night depending on the night.

Has anybody ever stayed there before? Ive heard mixed reviews. Im not looking for anything luxury, because in all honesty its probably just going to be a place to sleep and barf.

Anybody know of any better places to stay for the money?

Here is the website of the place we are looking at...

Last time I went I stayed at the Excalibur, it was decent enough. We paid $59 a night 3 years ago. But now they won't something between $81 on the weekday and upto $171 on the weekend. Thats outrageous, its not even all that nice.

RailRoad Inn in Henderson was nice. Cheap too..... Super Cheap breakfast.....$1.99 I think. 20 minutes from the Strip if I remember correctly.

Google it.

Thanks, but it needs to be close enough for a cheap cab ride. I will not be driving after drinking. Of course then again, 20min's isnt that far. Was that with heavy traffic or with out? A taxi may not be to expensive.

Downtown is great. I have not been in a few years, but love the light canopy downtown. I usually stay at the Fitzgerald. They also have a small 2nd story balcony you can sit and watch all the wierdos.

How you been Devil Dog? When we all stayed there, we had our bikes.

Think about the cab fare each day. That is 2 trips of at least $30.00 each after tip. So now you have spent $60.00 per day just in cab fares? Add that to the cost of the room if you stay in Henderson. I would find a place downtown so you can walk the strip.

check out the imperial palace. it is located right on the strip and my buddy and i paid 300 for the hotel and airfare for 4 days an 3 nights. the location is great and it is prolly one of the funnest casinos on the strip!

The Imperial Palace is cheap but it's an outdated hotel. It's a good place to stay if you aren't gonna be in your room much. Check out the Orleans and the RIO. Both are not on the strip but very close. Also check out the Monte Carlo if it's back up and running. It is very competetively priced for being on the strip.

didnt matter to us that it was outdated.... afterall, i didnt go to vegas to lounge in my room and watch sopa operas. if all you need is a place to lay ur head, scrub ur ass, and change ur clothes then the imperial palace is it!! it is located right in the middle of the strip across the street from ceasar's and right next door to Harrah's.

i will be staying there the next time i head back out that way.

I like the Imperial Palace... its not that far of crawl at the end of the day.

5 night stays July 3rd thru the 8th:

Plaza:$229
Imperial Palace: $469
Monte Carlo: $679
Rio: ??
Orleans: $420
Tropicana: $409
Excalibur: $475
Luxor: $669
NYNY: $Outrageous

But Shanling is right about the cab fares. I guess I do need to take that into account. $30 dollars average each way will add up.
