I’d like to see and have never seen, is a Blackbird modded up. Their claimed speed was 178 mph with just 1,137ccs. Anyone seen one?
I will post this video as it's interesting to see that the speedometer is almost 20 kms off....

It looks as though this bike was topped out at 173 mph/280 kms/hr

Yep, I think the 'official' top speed numbers for the ZX11 was 171mph,
and then the CBRxx1100 was 173mph.
I've seen a few Bkackbirds in the $2k-$4k range lately too.
So depending what you want, if the weight doesn't bother you, you can get alot of motorcycle for cheap.
Upgrade the brakes and suspension, and you have a great sport tourer in the $4k-$5k range.
If I had more room I would easily end up with too many bikes, lol

I convinced myself I didn’t need 3 bikes and could use the garage space so got rid of the concours but, I want some land so I can build a shop, which means I’ll have to find another excuse as to why I don’t need more bikes since space won’t be a problem. lol! My friend built a shop and, the one thing I learned from his shop build was, always go bigger than you think you need.

I like the instrument cluster on the Blackbird.....

And it has a digital speedo which is something the Hayabusa should have.....

@LC4CARL ...with our help, you could get the whole gambit of bikes which competed against each other....a ZX12R, a Super Blackbird and you already have the Gen 1 Busa......

Here's a nice Blackbird

and a nice ZX12R

Or just spend an extra 5-7 and get another gen-2 Busa. I know which I'd rather be on :D

I read somewhere, that the anticpation of an event can be as joyful as the event itself. I think there is something to that. I just got approved for a week off in April. As I day dream about the ride on this cold / rainy day, it brings a smile to my face.

I would like to wire my grip heaters to an "ignition on" circuit. (Not that I have ever left them on and killed the battery...)

It's been a minute since I've played with relays.

With this loom, switching on the key (and hence the tail light), activates the relay, which completes the circuit from the battery to, in this case, my grip heaters?

lol, no, those are no competition for a Gen2 Busa...but they are nostalgic... I'de just feel better if they'de handle and stop...
back in the day-49-.jpg

I spent 2.5 grand on mine back in the day, had the forks rebuilt with valve emulators and an Ohlins with remote preload. After it handled like a dream, like a 750 with good kit. Later on I polished the lower fork legs starting with 200 wet-n-dry and worked my way up to 2000 then autosol. They looked for all the world like upsidedown ones. I polished up a few other bits too, even got so carried away I did the outside of the carbs. The VH was a nice drive too, a V8 Brock pack, beautiful note!

All bitz were coated with Incralac to prevent corrosion.
