I learned to ride about 7 years ago now, I took the MSF first and then bought a brand new R1, that was 98, one year b4 the Busa came out, had i waited a year i would have bought a busa to ride as a first bike. i am about 6'4" and 250 and the R1 was plenty fast for me, but i never had a problem when i was rolllin cus i controlled my wrist well. Just trying to say that i bought a bike i wanted and learned on a fast as hell bike just fine. After that i went backwards and bought 600's and 750's, ended up selling them as they were all too small \but kept the r1 and am getting the bus the spring.
