I like them 'cause they are plain black, the adjustable buckle fits my wide foot and they are tall enough to go over my leathers.

I have been wearing a pair of these for over a year. Quite comfortable, and very easy to get broke in. Summer and winter, I like mine.

how do they close up? zipper? I like the "understated" look... I want a good boot but most look just to "speed racer" to me..

Velcro on the side - Wrap around. One latch type buckle for the top of the foot.

If you want a shorter version, they make that and market it under a different name. (I can't remember what they call it). Same boot only shorter.

For the price, I think these are hard to beat.
