[Ft Campbell Busa]

I posted what happened in the 1/4 mile section in a thread that I already had going on racing. I never been down before and this was a first. Track must have had some oil or water on it because I was doing my burnout and while rolling toward the tree the bike went straight to the ground impacting on the left side. Never had a chance to react it was so quick. A few scrapes on me but the bike was worse. I will need a stator cover and left fairing. Could have saved both with frame sliders. Hurt my pride more than anything. Some newbies just asked me to take their bike down for them but I refused. Wish it happened to my Katana instead. I would have just brought her home and through a coat of walmart spray paint on it. Bike fired right back up and I rode home. Any problems with the ebay fairings? This sucks.

Stick with OEM fairings. Used ones show up at decent prices if you are not in a hurry.

Thanks guys. Hey Professor............I went down and pulled the fairing off and it is not as bad as I thought. What I thought was rash is actually rubber scuff marks from the starting line. With a lot of cleaner and elbow grease much of it came off and the scratches are not very deep. Some will even buff out. Looks like mostly the stator cover and my knee took the most damage, lol. Most of the fairing damage is the light scratches and stickers. Just a couple areas of actual rash on there. Stickers did take a beating. The upper fairing by my light was what I was most worried about but it was mostly rubber scuff marks and light scratches. I should be able to get away with reusing this fairing after all. The stator can be repainted but I already have a chrome one that I am watching on Ebay. I should be back together for next weekend and definitely the 28th race. My wife did not find it very funny when I mentioned I was going to add a Nitrous kit to the bike for the drag race event on the 28th, lol. Thanks

The factory stator cover is a weak point. I think a lot of guys go with a woodcraft cover after the factory one gets damaged. It is sturdy and has a puck attached.

Yeah I am ordering them with the stator cover. The fairing would have been fine if I had them. I know it sounds stupid but I thought they would be bad luck so I never ran them . I use to yell at my men in Iraq when I found out that they were not keeping the body bags in the trucks while we were deployed. They really thought they were bad luck and did not want to carry them in the truck. Lesson learned

I agree on the WoodCraft cover. Mine slid 30'. Mainly on the sliders and woodcraft cover. I was able to pick it up and race the rest of the day. With a stocker, I'd been loading it up. I've seen many break with very little effort.

Sounds good Professor. Lesson learned on that one. I am getting the Busa painted this weekend so I should be back out for the 28th race. I found the Michelin through "Richies tires" also. By the way, I called to the track today and spoke to a few people there. It looks like where the concrete turns into blacktop was a bit slippery in the middle and I went down there. You can see the rubber mark on the black top where it appears I was already spinning and must have hit a slick spot. Everyone apparently thought I hit the front brake the way it fell over. I never touched it though. I know the middle is kind of slippery on the line but I should not have assumed it was ok back there either. That was the first thing the owner mentioned when he came out to see if I was OK. He stated how slippery the center was. I realized today that I normally always do my burnout that way so I am aimed straight ahead and center but I always roll out sooner. I must have stayed on the throttle a bit longer on the blacktop and lost all traction. It was so quick that all I remember doing is accelerating towards the line. Thanks for the tips guys!
