No one needs an assault style weapon but I like the way it looks and enjoy shooting it at the range. Law abiding citizens aren't the problem. Doesn't the UK have a huge knife attack issue? Criminals find a way to carry out attacks regardless of weapon used.
yes we do have a knife issue, its bad but not huge - and needs sorting out it is heavily reported unlike Chicago shootings 100 over 2 weekends that is crazy

and its mainly black kids in London gangs - called Postcode /(Zip) gangs all down to drugs and control- glad i don't live there

68 deaths in the 1st 8 months of 2022 bear in mind there are near 9 million residents

Why is there so much violence in the capital?

One of the reasons why violence in the capital has spread is because of the brutal “county lines trade” where urban dealers force children and other vulnerable people to take drugs to customers in more rural areas.

The National Crime Agency estimate there are more than 1,000 “county lines” in operation – a 40 per cent rise in just one year – raking in an estimated £1.8billion annual profit.

Each county lines route is making as much as £5,000 a day - £7million between them all.

The county lines gangs regularly entice boys, largely from broken homes, into a life of crime with promises of money, kudos and a sense of belonging often lacking in their troubled home lives.

just from my hill top - who needs assault style weapons in a city

them kind of guns stopped in UK 35 years ago after a mass shooting - it was the right thing to do IMHO

There USED to be (and still is to some degree) a decent gun culture here in Canada, we already have very robust laws regarding the use and storage of our firearms...and none of the bad guys have used registered, legally obtained firearms.

Anyone I know who owns these sorts of "assault style" firearms use them on the range only...I used to belong to a tactical shooting club and now thanks to the idiot in charge is now a memory along with a billion dollar industry.

Almost every rural home along with very many semi-rural homes have fire arms in the form of hunting rifles or shot guns...we can still own semi-auto firearms thankfully.

Canada and the US are close in our ideologies...far closer than with the UK ideology.

Governments should stop worrying about space travel and start resolving the myriad of issues here on the plant we inhabit...the money wasted on rockets and those sort of things should be pumped into eradicating drugs and all the cartels who promote them...

Instead of NASA, they should build an international anti-drug unit that goes in and wipes these guys out along with their product.

It’s called the ‘Bill of Rights’ for a reason. Nothing to do with need.
Enjoy your servitude and may your chains rest lightly upon you.

Prohibition failed miserably and so is the war on drugs.

If it were me, I'd be stepping up the war on drugs, they are a real scourge on society.
i agree

i heard today that NASA spend is absolutely tiny compared to the US Defence without space travel there would not be economical satellites flight giving us GPS etc etc

Mexican drug cartels some tough cookies there

Why? You’d still end with the same result?
Murder is illegal and it still happens.
Reagan started the ‘war on drugs’ and it has accomplished nothing.
Let adults be adults and deal with the freedom it brings. Some will act maturely others won’t. I’m fine with it.

I can't for one minute sit here and say that more shouldn't be done to fight the war on drugs....

This has nothing to do with adults being adults as there are many youth involved in this as well...either as users, runners, mules or victims of drug users/dealers...human trafficking and drugs go hand in hand as well.

Yes murder does happen and it is illegal, speeding is illegal yet we ride motorcycles which are more than capable of doing that....I fail to see the correlation between the manufacture, sale and use of illegal narcotics and the aforementioned illegal activities...

The war on drugs is continuing and there have been huge seizures of illegal narcotics but more needs to be done......Illegal drug use (mainly Fentanyl and opioids) is the biggest pandemic in many nations, people are dying at an incredible rate.

My apologies to @jch364 for de-railing this thread....it was not my intention.

I don’t disagree. So share with me your solution other than letting Darwin play his role?

It's above my pay grade but perhaps there can be an international committee set up similar to NATO which oversees the elimination of the drug cartel?

I know there are special ops teams who hunt cartel leaders but these leaders and their minions are like "whack a moles" and are very fluid in moving between countries and regions, there need to be more eyes and ears on the ground to track and neutralize them-the old adage of "cut the head off the snake."

Maybe we can put money into a scientific solution by creating something to make humans less susceptible or dependent on the effects of drugs....science has come leaps and bounds from what it was even 5 yrs ago?

I finally had the time to get the new rifle sighted in and it was pretty easy. got the red dot and iron sight/co-witness. I kinda had the idea of taking off the iron sights and putting a picatinny off set attachment on it and buying a scope for it from Arken Optics. I know many many folks love Vortex but I just fell in love with this scope company and Im gonna give it a try. I got the idea of putting the red dot off to the side from watching a video with Colion Noir. he had a holo sight on his with a scope on his ar and I kinda like the idea.

Does anyone have that kind of set up? Id be interested in your thoughts on it!

I've heard good things about Arken, they make good optics.

I personally haven't shot with them but have a couple friends who do...none of them use red dot though.

I had different rigs over the years on my service weapons but they were all mil-spec so not quite in the same league. I have an off-set red dot on my AR with an EOTech holo sight. The red dot is located on the forward picatinny rail on the hand guard with the pressure trigger on my forward handle.

I bore sighted both with the red dot at 50m and the EOTech at 100m base sighting as red dot are only useful close in (as you already know I'm sure).

I decided to look into reloading. Lots and lots of options out there so I was wondering what presses are used if anyone here reloads.

uplula loader is amazing. I don’t manually load anymore. It’s a time and thumb saver.
