MLK B-Day & Obama Inauguration

Incorrect. Race is a factor because of ignorant people like yourself waiting to play the race card, youre no better than those you say that make it a factor in your life.

Discrimination is virtually non existent in todays society. Its way too easy to get caught up in a lawsuit with that mentality. If anything the agendas pushing minorities into positions for "equality" is giving you the upper hand over those that are non minorities.

You really have no clue do you. Discrimination is non existent. Maybe where you live. What's so interesting about all of this is that you naturally assumed that I was black because I disagree with you. But race isn't a factor right?

So Obama was elected because of affirmative action???

So a coincidental date is a historical moment?

Now I'm wrong in referring to your race as your race, youve inserted theres differences. How should I have worded that you among others in the african american community think this is a special time. I guess I can celebrate the first time a white man gets elected after a black man as a historical moment too.

We're all one people but you keep saying my race. Why is that?

MLK B-Day ....

NObama's Day starting the next four years of the end of America ... :moon:

My son's 21st B-Day ... :super:

While I understand the logic Arch, If I said that "a white man making it to the presidency is enough for a white person to vote for him".., someone would label me as racist. Al Sharpton would get on TV and emote live. Jesse Jackson would come to my front yard and stage a protest. My point is that racism goes both ways, neither of which make it right. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

The fact is, we will never know how many black people voted for Obama solely for the color of his skin. Or, voted against him. But, given the demographics of the voting population, it would appear that more white people voted colorblind than black people did. Maybe the right could get Alan West to run, now THAT would be interesting...

That's actually a good point. Blacks would not vote for Alan West or Clarence Thomas in numbers. But I think they would vote just as much for Colin Powell as they did for Obama. It is not as simple as voting for a black skinned person, they do have to be aligned with and have the respect of the black community generally speaking.

I don't think Al Sharpton jumping on you for saying you voted for a white guy is any different than people on this forum jumping on me because i said yesterday was a historic day. But I keep all that in perspective. Last night about 500 people had viewed this thread. Most either agreed or disagreed and went on about their business. Only really 2 people felt the need to go negative. I respect their right to do that but I'm not looking to change anyone's mind about this sort of thing. When I posted it I knew someone would want to pick a fight over it. But it's all good and when I do post provacative threads i look forward to people like you calling me out on it.

Obama is a "communist muslim"!? Oh my gawd, this is the most unaware, most uninformed statement I've read in quite a while. How anyone could parrot such a point of view, to me, lives only in the Fox/dittohead bubble. The current Republican party is so out of touch with the heartbeat of America, it is dying a slow and illogical death.
And as far as the rest of this strand? There's nothing worse than white guys pretending to know the depths of black culture, MLK's idiology and "where he would stand" re: President Obama. If it wasn't so absurd, it would be laughable.

I don't care for your point of veiw of Obama either, as it is absurd to me.
I also don't know where I'm pretending to know the depths of black culture in the above statement, or anywhere else.
I do know that MLK was a Christian, and Obama is not, as well as Obama does not support Chrisitan belifes.
So how can the two men be linked together at all other than race? They cannot.

My creed is that I base my world on science, I believe what a woman does with her body is her business, not mine, the world is warming at an alarming rate...caused by mankind, education trumps superstition, red states use significantly more of federal money than blue states but critisize Obama "as a socialist", fossil fuel is a finite and polluting resource and contributes to greed, war and poverty. Many low income conservatives actually vote against their own best interests because of the myth that "liberals want to give away hard working peoples money to lazy deadbeats".

Wake up folks, the multi national corporations have transferred the wealth of our Nation to a tiny few over the last 30 years....and you still blame the poverty class for trying to survive. The Congress are whores to the ultra rich and there have been over 300 "silent filibusters" over the last 4 years by the so called "conservative party" (nothing conservative about them..they are radicals). Silent filibusters on bills to put people to work, help Veterans, work on crumbling infrastructure, etc.......but just keep blaming President Obama and watching those three turds on "Fox and Friends".
Responding to my post with clever albeit misleading soundbites will not be necessary, I've heard it all. It's sewage.

There is one common theme I see presenting itself here. It is a VERY polarizing issue. Those posting here have an opinion about things stated by other members of this forum and want to share... the thing that saddens me is how we choose to condescend to the other side since "my / your" view is obviously the only correct one. It leads one to believe that we stand divided on as small a scale as a forum post to the top of our elected officials debating national issues.

I'm all for cleaning house in Washington, as I see none of them doing us any good. The majority, if not all, are all for themselves and whatever it takes to keep themselves elite.
I blame Obama for stopping the Keystone pipeline, blocking U.S. offshore drilling, lowering the amount of U.S. nuclear weapons. Returning the bust of Winston Churchhill to england as his first act as president, way to slap the U.S's top allie in the face. The list goes on. I don't see the good he's doing any of us.
But because the U.S. government holds a press conference, the media reports on it, and you agree with it, then you must be correct and I'm the wrong one here.
That is ok with me, as we disagree and do not value each others opinions at all. The topic at hand originally was the historic event of a black president entering his second term on MLK day.
The topic then turned to how much alike Obama and MLK are. My comment and opinion is that their race is the only thing they have in common, as their belifes are much different.

Obama is my President, but comparing him to MLK is a little off the rails, Obama hates white people unless they are rich own banks or run unions, MLK loved everyone, even people that hated him. MLK had every reason to be a bitter bitter hateful man yet had not one fiber of hate in his being, Obama has no reason to be that way yet he is full of rage and hatered. The only stretch similarities these guys have is one is a great black American, the other is a half black American.

Wtf? A half black American that hates white people? It's laughable some of the things that people say in an attempt to make a point.

Wow!!! Couldn't have said it better!:thumbsup:

That part is laughable, he is half black though, and half lilly white. I dont think he really hates white people , he just hates free thinking people of any race or creed that dont bow down to him and his elitists ilk. He is a eilitist narcissist that thinks he knwos whats best for everyone, yes I also think he has strong socialist tendencies of the American variety. MLK was for individual social responsibility this guy is for mass socialist regimentation.

Thank god for 4 more years!!
I was afraid I'd have to get a job but nope.
I say 8 more years to keep the coin coming my way.

Very well said.. I totally agree. Could not have said it better myself.

Look folks, we are all grown-ups here. Clearly our points of view here are extremely polarized, there is nothing to be accomplished by seeing who can "one liner" the last poster with cleverness. We are a micro example of our Country at this time in history and pouring more gasoline onto the burn does nothing in terms of coming out the other end as One Nation. We all, ultimately, want the same outcomes for our Country and it's people.....personal freedom, productivity, peace in the world, balance of nature, celebrating (not rejecting) our differences and a better world for our children. Someone once said, "the highest form of humanity is allowing others to be who they are".
I would say at this point, "have a great day and I'll see you all over in the motorcycle conversations". Doyle

Again, well said. I'm off this post.
