Military tricare

I have only a small bit to say because what I want to say would not be suitable for this public forum.

I have 17 years and 2 months of active duty service to date, been to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq and all the lovely places between in my time. This is not sitting well with my thoughts on the current administration or where we are headed as a nation.

+1000- makes my blood boil-

For those uninformed (and service members can elobarate further), the Obama administration wants to cut military healthcare benefits, and increase the sevicemember's cost by about a factor of 3, at the expense of soldiers who have placed their lives in danger in service of their nation, to give free bennies to those who have never contributed ANYTHING....

not to mention soldiers dont make much to begin with-

As long as you are active duty, you are covered. But those who retire or are in the ARNG/USAR not on active duty, this is a pretty big deal.

At the moment, my PORTION of my employer sponsored plan is cheaper FOR ME (not my company) than Tricare, but if that changed I'd be on it also.

Sickening that they give free healthcare to all the scum in the country including illegals but those fighting for our freedoms have to pay??:banghead: That is complete bullshizz. Our servicemen/women and dependants should have the best care available at not one single cent out of pocket expense!!

Not sure what we can do here, but I am a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, and they represent us in matters like this in Washington. I would highly encourage others to seek out the organization similar to AFSA in their service. It is a small membership fee, which may have huge benefits in the end.

We need to take action against these things, if it is possible and not just read about them on the web. You have a voice, you just have to find the right avenue to have it heard loud and clear.

The problem is that most of the military (the part still serving) has to speak thru their organizations and not directly to those in charge. And sure can't protest it. Pretty ironic, isn't it, that we'd take something from those who gave some (and some all) and give it to those who gave zip....

:moon: Thats about all I can say about that. Reminds me of the early 90's, we are going to be fighting over post-its before too long.

I also saw something forwarded to me yesterday from the G1 notes that said some CPT boards were going from "fully" to "best" qualified...the drawdown begins with thining the CO Grade ranks...

Actually there was a directed message about the drawdown that is already taking effect on the enlisted ranks. The letter said that overstrength MOS's will not retain less than exceptional soldiers and BDE CDR's have full authority to kick out those that are not meeting the standard.
On the O side, the boards are going from 98% to 80% to CPT next year. Its going to be a tough end I think...I am a bit nervous..

The company that had all the recruting contracts with the ARNG/USAR (Docupak) just lost that contract (they are in Birmingham let go most of their staff about a week ago) worth $100 million (AR-RAP is no more); they've already put the word out that, once again, it's time to 'clean house'. I've seen this like, 4X now. How many good years you got? There is going to be a BIG drawdown (Let's hope we don't overdo it AGAIN)...

"To the country we love, to the men and women who defend her, and to that faith -- that fundamental American faith -- that says no mission is too hard, no challenge is too great," Obama said.

Thank you Mr. President, by the way may we have your authorization to maintain our health care?

Because I was raised and taught to provide a solution, not only a problem, here it is. How about we don't give $800,000,000 to Egypt and give it to Detroit. While we are at it, stop paying out ridiculous amounts of money to those that turn around and kill us with the funds we gave them and take care of our own house.

I think my career is safe. I've got 13 in now with 4 left on a current commitment. The wife just made MAJ as well so I think we will be ok in this house :)

Agree; unless you let them buy you out...I had a buddy (CPT) who got $70 for coming off Active Duty in the 90's during the post Desert Storm drawdown...he took the money, got in the USAR, ended up later getting mobilized several times retired LTC and will still get a heck of a retirement check :)

Congrats on your wife's promotion!
