I just bought a Garmin 60CS. I posted on the forum asking members what kind of GPS they have... and to help me decide which one to get.

It was one of the spur-of-the-moment purchases. I hate that kind of purchase, too

Anyway I went to our local Gander Mountain store hoping to have a look at different GPS's. As I said it was a spur-of-the-moment, so you know it was a rash decision. After looking for a while and talking to the salesman I went ahead and bought the 60CS.

I took it on a short car trip, just to see how it worked. OMG I love this GPS. While in the store looking, I kept telling myself not to buy it because I could get it cheaper online. I bought it anyway... for too much money.

When I got back from the trip I looked online for prices. Damn, I knew I shouldn't have paid that much! What's this? A low price guaranty

To keep the story short(er). Their website says they will match online prices. So, I found a couple of low, online sites and went back to the store where I proceeded to get a $108 refund... Yes!

I can't wait to see how far off my speedometer is. Thanks for listening.

The display looks Huge...And Color

Are you using a Stem Mount or mounting someplace else? Looks really Nice. GPS units sure have changed over the last 5 years, nice and compact. Would you mind posting a review of the unit after you have had it for awhile?

No problem, I will post a review as soon as I get to ride with it for a while.

Mounting? I've given that some thought and I think it's going to be stem mounted. I have an idea for a custom stem mount that I need to have made. I'll keep you all informed about that too.

So how much did you pay for it? I got the same one earlier this year for $350 after a $50 rebate from Garmin. They are now $370 at.....

After returning to the store and getting the low price guaranty it came to $364.35. The price I got off the internet was $347... but Gander Mountain charged tax on that, so it came to $364.35. Still, a lot better than had I not went back to the store.

Not the lowest price I found on the internet but not the highest, either. I'm happy with the price.

So, how do you like yours. Any problems or things you don't like?
So far I like it alot. I purchased it for reasons not bike related. The property I hunt is over 600 acres and I use it for marking possible locations for blinds. It's probably overkill for the original intended use, but I'm sure I'll find other uses for it in the future. I really like the screen and find it very bright and doesn't wash out in sunlight.

I have a Magellan Merridian Color. I am red-green color blind. The color contrast makes all the difference for me. I highly recomend color screens.

Good choice. Garmin makes good stuff.

Do you have the "map source" topo program or does that unit have it preloaded. It a fairly accurate program.

I have the Garmin 76C and love it.
I got it to use when I go on the 4-wheeler and in my boat.
Now I use it on the bike also.
It is waterproof down to 3 feet and will float it dropped in the water.
I have a tank bag with clear plastic pocket that it stays in when on the bike. Have a handle bar bracket for the 4-wheeler.
It has a color screen and has I think 115mb of memory which holds all the maps they I have needed so far.
Great little GPS, I think.
