So I usually have a winter project on the go, and seeing as it's winter here in NZ I found a real little gem!
A 1989 TS185ER, it was offered to me by one of the shop's clients for $100 so I just had to go pick it up immediately!!
It was sitting in a shed for years unloved and abandoned... So sad .
Turns out its in restorable condition, but it's gonna need work for sure lol.
Pretty much all there, no tail lamp or kick stand or right side cover (plastic) and the pipe is pretty corroded around the header area, but I ultrasonic cleaned the carb and put some gas in it and a few kicks later she burst into life... Albeit a very smokey life lol!
Warmed it up and she runs mint!!
A little movement in the main bearings but otherwise sweet, selects all gears, haven't tried the clutch out yet though, easy fix anyway. All parts are available too. I've just also scored a parts bike for $20 from one of the mechanics at work, can't complain at all lol.
I had several TS185s when I was young in the 70's, great fun and pop wheelies in 2nd gear easily!
My plan is to make a VMX bike out of it and go have some fun.
What d'yall think?
