i cannot tell you what a bad idea this is. so, the kickstand, which holds your bike up from falling over at any given time is a potential single point of big time failure, and you wanna maybe buy some utterly cheap piece of poop from china?

this is a horrendous idea and should not be considered, at all. everyone knows poop from china is cheap for a reason. there are times when its ok to take the risk and maybe you get something halfway decent from china (not like they cant make SOME things good) but the kickstand of your bike sure as hell isnt a candidate.

cant go wrong with soupys =D

Thank you and I totally understand your concern.

One thing that I've learned through research is that often Chinese "manufactures" are given a bad credit based off of poor quality made products. This can be mostly true with Chinese engineered/developed manufactured products who seek low manufacturing cost (cheap) with high profit yield. But American engineered/developed products that are "manufactured" by Chinese companies have to obtain a certain level of quality control that is within a certain range of quality that the American company call for.

That being said a LOT of products/parts that we use are Chinese/foreign made that are of very good quality. Through the recent years a lot Chinese companies have "upped their game" in terms of quality where it matters.

AliExpress kickstand vs. PSR. Now having previously owned a PSR kickstand on my old Gen 2 I believe I can confidently say that this kickstand probably came off or near the same assembly line as the PSR or at least made by the same company...case in point many Caterpillar tools (not all) are rebranded Snap-on tools. Companies sometimes will allow the manufacture to produce a replica product and sell it at a lower cost, of course they get a cut...a lot of power tool companies do this

Also patents expire which will allow company B to reproduce said product of company A with minor changes of course.

Now I guess it comes down to how much confidence one willing to place in a Chinese made product...save a few dollars or by once cry once.

I just posted the other day on my AliExpress BMC knockoff air filter which works great...I don't think Chinese companies are doing any R&D on Gen 3 Hayabusa air filters (not a large market for them).

Inspecting the kickstand I feel very confident in its quality but once again I thank you for your concern.

I think that's the key - inspect the kickstand closely. Also add a lock washer and locktite to the adjustor screw and it should be fine.
The cost of manufacturing one of these is just a few dollars regardless. Soupy's/Brocks then adds their name and adds 5X or more for profit.
At the end of the day it's just a short metal rod which isn't that hard to get wrong. It's critical to supporting the bike at rest but it isn't critical to the moving parts of the bike needed for performance, reliability or safety.
Just my opinion

speaking as a machinist, its a huge gamble. not all metal is the same or otherwise created equal. its not just the production of a given product, its the quality of the stuff the product is made of. and a kickstand isnt the thing you take a chance on, imo. buy good products made out of known high quality 6 series or 7 series aluminum instead of the mystery grab bag crap dug out of a bin somewhere in some shitbox shop in china.
