Greetings,

Many of you might have seen this already but it is unbelivable isn't it?

Just how BIG is Wal-Mart?

90% of Americans live within 15 miles of a Wal-Mart.

1.At Wal-Mart Americans spend $36,000,000 every hour of every day.

2.This works out to $20,928 of profit every minute!!!

3.Wal-Mart will sell more by St. Patrick S Day (March 17 th ) than Target sells all year.

4.Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target + Sears + Costco + K-Mart combined.

5.Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people and is the largest private employer.

6.Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the World.

7.Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger & Safeway combined, and keep in mind they did this in only 15 years.

8.During this same period, 31 Supermarket chains sought bankruptcy (including Winn-Dixie).

9.Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world.

10.Wal-Mart has approx 3,900 stores in the United States of which 1,906 are SuperCenters; this is 1,000 more than it had 5 years ago.

11.This year, 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur at a Wal-Mart store ( Earth S population is only 6.5 billion)

Free enterprise...
We want the low prices but, then we grip about the damage to local Mom and Pop stores caused by them...
If you really think about it, it's kind of scary, I wonder how big they will be in another 15 years...
And will anyone else survive...
In a few years everything might be Walmart in some manner...
Ever watched Demolition Man, remember why all the restaurants are Taco Bell...

They'll be labeled as a monopoly after they put everyone out of business . Then Uncle Sam will step in and make some business decisions for them !

I doubt that will ever happen. They forgot to mention the huge political influence they have.

No politician would dare speak against them. Kerry and Kennedy did for a while but not for long. No one listens to the rant of these two anyway.

A few months from now, I'll be within 15 miles of 4 Walmarts.

And another tid bit.

They warehouse everything. Here is why.

Let's say you sell tooth paste. Crest for example. I'm Wal-Mart. (I wish)

I come to you and say I want to buy your tooth paste and I will pay you for it in 90 days. You say OK. By doing this I sell your toothpaste in 60 days and I'll pay you in another 30 days. It is out of my warehouse before 90 day payment is due and I have made my profit before ever paying you.

Ever see something at Wal Mart and said I'll buy it next time? Then there is never a next time? This is why. Might be a one time thing or product either because the product is no longer manufactured or the product manufacture want's the money up front. Wal Mart does not buy up front.

I read this in US World Report or some other business magazine a few years back. I also read somewhere that 70% of China's goods are bought by Wal Mart. We haul train loads of there stuff. Ever see the light green cargo trailers with white letters on railway cars? Wal Mart. All of it.

Not a Chance, With this type of huge money coming in they buy and sell our scumbag politicians with "rollback" prices...

Personally I don't shop at Wal-Mart much. It's allways too crowded and full of Carnival/State fair Refugees.

Seriously though, I just cannot stand the rudeness and the lack of common decency I find everytime I would go in to the store.

Last time I was in one I was in Tampa though, I imagine that folks would be a little more polite and less pissy up here.

There are currently 4 Walmarts within 15 miles my house. But I only shop at two of them

you forgot to add
is it Black Friday?
the big shopping day after Thanksgiving?
well anyway they had over $1 billion in sales on that day
I believe that 2 yrs ago
don't know what it was last year
I've actually thought about driving for them
a lot closer than my current terminal

Anybody coming to the Meet-n-Greet 2 in Eureka Springs is within an hour ride of Home Office of the evil behemoth!

I'm being facetious, I shop there all the time- I could give a big rat's ass about the political implications, it saves me a lot of money. Capitalism works, baby! You want a socialist economy, go check out the Soviet Union- oops, there IS no Soviet Union anymore-what a coincidence....

I talked with a truck driver working for wal mart and he told me it was the best job he could have. Own tractor assigned to him, profit sharing, stock options and regular hours with two days off per week. Paid vacations..yadda..yadda.

Said he wouldn't go anywhere else. Might behove you to apply.

#11 is the one that should tell the whole story of how large they are!

I live 15 mins from 3 Wal-Marts and 20 mins from 5 Wal-Marts.

My brother-in-law is a truck driver for Wal-Mart. He relocated his family from Wisconsin (after living there all his life) to Arizona because he couldn't get in at the Wisconsin distribution center. After 1-year in Arizona they have a postion for him back in Wisconson and he moving back. Needless to say, he's very happy with the company.

Let me tell you how powerful this company is. I live here about 12 miles from the Home Office, my wife works there. Every year they have the shareholders meeting here in NW Arkansas. Until this year, there was no decent convention center in Benton County (the HQ is in Benton County) so they had to go 17 miles south to Washington County. We have an interstate highway here called I-540. During the shareholders meeting last year, the state was doing roadwork on the section of I-540 between the Wal-Mart HQ and the convention center where thier meetings were. Someone from the home office called someone in the state capital and the roadwork was put on hold until after the shareholders meeting.

How is that for some pull.

Don

I shop there all the time I spend 75$ a week for food with the prices of there competitor (hyvee) it would cost me 12 to 15 dollars more a week with three teens I can barly stay a float now

Remember a little while back the City Council of Chicago, or in that vicinity, rejected a Super Wal Mart?

Walmart then built it 2 or 3 city blocks in another town that borders Chicago. All the tax base, jobs and what not now goes to this little city next to the big city. Too funny.

I'm sure someone here at the org. can fill us in on that little deal.

As they say, "Don't hate the player, hate the game."

Capitalism at it's best. Only one Wal-Mart within 15 miles of me and of course it's a POS 70's model Wal-Mart. Big @ss new Wal-Mart being built soon w/ a Target right next door. Not to mention the largest mall in Central FL is planned to be built about 5 miles away. So much for the limited tarffic around her. Development has finally caught up w/ me.

Well look at 54... GJoker always says he remembers when it was one lane and you could run it at 70 mph and never see another car. Now it's a 3 lane, one way, with lights.

We have 2 Super WalMarts in a 15 min drive, with another one proposed. And I'm sorry, but with gas prices what they are, no raise since May of '05, house taxes raised, home insurance through the roof... I gotta shop at WalMart, or else we aren't eating.

Hmm.. maybe that should be the new diet..
