The more you look for it the more you will see. Bad people doing bad poop everywhere. I don’t watch the news because it all I hear about. The state of violence in the world is rising. Taking away a weapon won’t stop it. They will resort to other measures. Take away the offenders and eventually they will get the point. Sadly though, it still won’t stop it.

I need to stop watching the news as well..

It's a bad habit I got into when serving as I liked to keep on top of the crazy place I'd be dropped into next...

In places where firearms aren't common, they use knives and vehicles to a little less effect but they are still out there causing mayhem...

The US has always been a gun culture based society and always will be.

They will never get rid if guns in the us. Bad guys don’t care about laws, police, court or prison. However it is 100% gaurentee that if you shoot the criminal and kill them, they won’t do it again. But that statement will open up an entire debate so......... I keep my family protected and educated as best as possible. Even have a sign outside my front door. The lock is for your protection, not mine. :)

All that and what I don't get are all the home invasions and bad guys ruling the streets...the population is armed.....the bad guys should be scared to act up but they aren't in any way, shape or form...

...and how many of those who are carrying won't engage a threat? I'd say more than half. They'd be like those people who let that elderly lady get pummeled and then close the door. More guns aren't the answer...what is? That's the question with no answer.....

Looks like some states are pretty high in gun related deaths...and this is an older map.

How many of these states have CCW/open carry?

I'm all for weapons threat precautions in schools especially since I work in one but you have to remember, this is the media. I'm not losing sleep over this. I'm sure what is reported is accurate but there are a lot of other threats to safety that aren't reported and most of us go on living without even knowing about them.

I don't know of any more pressing "threats to safety" than insecure firearms getting into the hands of people who shouldn't have them (little children for one).

The desire to relive the wild west is getting little kids and innocent people killed. Weapons storage and security needs to get tightened up in the US.

I would say BLM riots, drunk drivers, drug addiction, Chicago. Just a few that come to mind.

When these things happen it is tragic. But can’t restrict the 2nd amendment. The criminals breaking into your house are not going to wake you up and give you time to open your safe. I say this and the only gun accessible in my house is a nerf gun. Lol
But I do think people need to be held responsible for their guns. Drives me nuts when you read stories about people going to airport and just forgot they had a gun in their bag. If you’re so irresponsible you don’t know you are armed you prob should stop or change how you carry.

Exactly....responsibility for guns.....some people have so many guns they don't even realize one is missing...

I've been in homes in the US and saw firearms positioned in strategic places-all loaded and ready to go...there was even one in the bathroom.........

I believe these firearms should be locked up and secured when the home owner is not at home or in control of them (when guests are over for parties, etc).

The problem occurs when a teenager can gain easy access to a myriad of firearms from within their own home or if an intruder comes in when everyone is away from the home and can do a quick weapon grab.....

If a home owner has a firearm ready to go when they go to bed or are in their homes, there's nothing wrong with that at all..

I missed your top line...

For all of those you mentioned, that's why you have an organized, paid on duty full time police force...a citizen with a firearm is pretty much a liability in most of the examples you posted.

A youth finding a loaded ready to kill firearm in their own home is a reality...and in today's troubled youth and how they think, it's a real danger.
