Hey Guys..

I am new to the Hayabusa ..I have a 2009 and have only had it a week and I have some observations/Comments/Questions....

My previous bike was a 2006 ZX10R and I have to say that first thoughts are that the Busa is slower than my Zx??? I did have a one gear smaller Front sprocket on the ZX and I know that I should probably be thinking of a 46 rear sprocket for this bike..

I really like the smoothness of the Busa and feel it will make a great sports tourer with risers and maybe a gel seat.... but the performance seems disappointing to me so far

Am I missing something here???? ???

have you wound it out yet? The Busa doesn't feel as fast on takeoff, but wait til you hit about 8K and above and you are riding a fire-breathing monster. Bet you can ride the busa further than a zx-10 without killing your back/hands, too....

No I haven't wound it up yet......Didn't think I had too considering all the talk of torque... Undoubtedly more comfortable than the Zixxer but when you buy the "fastest" production bike in the world I guess I have high expectations for it..

46T Rear Sprocket will give her that extra grunt. There is not a knat's a$$ of difference in your 10 and your busa as far as speed goes. You will find your busa much more street friendly since it will pull hard from a lower rpm. You will find it much smoother as well.

Just be a little patient. After you've had your busa for a while I think you'll be very happy. :beerchug:

Two different bikes .
I think you have yet to discover how fast and or quick the Busa really is.
Give it more than a week to get to know how to get the speed out of it.
I don't think a Zx10 would be faster in either a quarter mile or top speed so you must be missing something ?

Mine is a Gen1 a friend of mine has a 08 or 09 zx10 says it has "work done" looks like just an exhaust. It is very fast but my Busa smoked him and I mean bad, rolling start from about 20 and he said go. He was never ahead even from the beginning I had the jump on him and pretty much ran off and hid from him from then on. He never gained an inch till I let him.
I think the difference you are feeling is the power band, my 600 Katana felt faster than my busa just because it was always cruising in is power band. Next time you take off watch where your going but pay attention to how fast you are accelerating, you will be surprised, because a Gen2 is faster than a Gen 1 and a little zx10 ain't gonna touch my gen 1.

To echo what others are saying...wind it out. You won't match what you were doing off the line, but it only takes a second to bring the Busa up to it's full power. When you do, there's noting on this planet that can parallel the feeling....unless you make a habit of riding on the back of a missle.

:welcome: the Busa can act like and Angel or a Demon it depends on your riding style. I ride around with guys on Gixer's, Zx10's all the time as well as my Busa mates and not once has any liter bike out run the Busa. when the liter bike's start to give it some the Busa's always cruise to the front, as I said it all depends on YOUR riding style, if you give it to the Busa ....well you better hang on HARD:thumbsup:

Busa has that effortless wave of power, that just keeps on a coming and a coming to an almighty crescendo
The ZX10 has power at peak and will accelerate like a bat out of hell if you can keep the front down.

the zx10 is a damn fast bike, the 2005 zx10 was a real widow maker without the steering damper.

its horses for courses, i myself thought about the beemer s1000 rr.

but i still prefer the 'mothership' of all bikes the hayabusa is.

if you wanna have fun watch this youtube vid ( my apologies for some of the bad 'Brit' language)

The Busa engine is a lower slower revving, and it's obviously alot bigger bike than the ZX10. These two things give you the illusion that it's slower, race a ZX10 or any 1000 and you'll see that they are neck and neck. The Busa tends to walk away after the quarter mile too.
I have a 46 tooth rear sprocket on my 08...it does the trick. I went down to a 17 front but changed it back again to the 18.
