Unfortunately, the cylinder bore was damaged enough to need welding and re-chroming. What sucks about that on a ZX10 is that the cylinder and upper case are one, so that alone is about a $750 repair. The associated lifter bucket was obliterated, rods and crank are okay. A cylinder head is around 2K from Kawasaki, and it still needs an intake cam and a total rebuild. I don't have the full story from this customer, but I expect to hear that he wandered into the rev limiter a little too hard and a little too long . . .
