Along with other mods, the addition of these new BST rims brought my total Busa weight loss to 50+ pounds.

I finished the wheel installation yesterday but haven't ridden it yet. The most notable improvement should be more responsive handling through the reduction of rotating and unsprung mass. The anti-bling, "stealth" look is low key and just right for me (form follows function on my Busa).

BigBSBusa - Thanks. I'll post my handling observations.

03busaman - They retail for $3.7K but I think they can be had for about $3K from Glenn Allen (an LEO and great guy to deal with in Myrtle Beach).

Looks damn nice! Awaiting more pics. Some of those carbon fiber looking brake lines would round out the look.

Thanks for your input gents. I'll take some more pics soon.

Hehehe... I'm looking into it. I may also add lightweight calipers soon with new lines if I can find what I want. I'm looking for Titanium calipers but no luck so far. Actually, I don't want too much initial bite--I like a very slight "cushion" to play with up front (it's forgiving in the twisties--I'm no Valentino Rossi).

So What the weight on those rims, did you use spacers or did the offset match up OK? Factory width?

Weights are (including the alloy hubs, stainless fittings, and sealed bearings): Front = 4.62 lbs; Rear = 5.94 lbs. No spacers (simple bolt on), OEM sizes.

Alloy hubs as in aluminium Alloy or Magnesium??? My GF was going to have new rims put on my bike, Magnesium ones (5.50 and 10.38)... 3.7K is not bad at all at those weights for front and rear.. are those race carbon fiber rims or street ones???

Mine are the street model CF rims. Here are the comparison specs:

Street CF Wheels (including 6000 series aluminum alloy hub, stainless steel fittings with bearings): Front: 4.62 lbs; Rear: 5.94 lbs.

Race Only CF Wheels with 7000 series magensium alloy hubs including 7000 series alloy hub, lighter wheel, titanium fittings with bearings : Front: 4.4 lbs; Rear: 5.28 lbs

Well... I just had a good test ride on some nearby rural "twisties" and I am nearly overwhelmed with satisfaction.

These babies work wonders for handling. So much, in fact, that I am going to have to make some major adjustments in my riding style. First, the bike "feels" much lighter than the saved weight alone might suggest. It leans into directional changes with almost scary ease (gotta really pay attention now) and acceleration is noticeably improved.

I'm scrubbing-in new brake pads all around, so I didn't honk down hard on the brakes but I quickly noticed that my suspension is suddenly too stiff and requires considerable adjustment. It's not even close now. Also, the little "bouncing" wheelies in 2nd gear that the bike did before the new wheels were installed, have now become r-e-a-l wheelies in 2nd. I love it...!

What a freaking motorcycle.

More later as I sort it out. Gotta go to work now...

Nice!!!

Wonder would the 7000 work on the Road/Street...

I like the fact the 7000 has the magnesium Hubs, as well as titanium fittings

Magnesium oxidizes easily! I don't know with certainty but I would guess THAT is a prime reason for them being classified as "race only". After a few rides in bad weather, the mag hubs might look like hell.

Tom ... thanks for the ride review on those BST's. No doubt the enhanced performance is worth the hefty price. I'll put them on my Christmas wish list, maybe Santa will be good to me

Both hub versions are "alloys". One is magnesium alloy and the other is aluminum alloy.
