I put mine on top of the ram air tube on the right side of the bike.

As far as "slim ballasts", that I'm unsure of. I called up xenonking, said I wanted the Visionpro 6000k high and low and thats what I got. I'm not sure why the one pic came out so green??? but its definitly blue and 10x brighter than the stock bulbs.

Total install time was about 35-40 minutes after I decided how I wanted to run the wires, where I was going to put the ballasts, etc.

You asked if they were slim ballasts. I didn't know there was a difference...but they don't seem very slim to me. I would think that smaller ballasts would be easier to put places but these fit perfect right where they're at.

From what I have read on the board, if you use your flash to pass button DO NOT put in the high beam HID. The ballasts are ignitors for the bulbs. It takes a couple of seconds for them to heat the bulbs up. So if you put in the HID for the highbeam you will render the flash to pass button useless. As for the difference between the ballasts I am not for sure.
