i took all the plastics and gas tank off to get them painted.
over time the bike cover i had was collecting condencation so i convinced my mom to let me park the bike in her apartment for the winter.

its been 3 days and it still smells like gas.
i tought that it would dissapate after a day or two after in the house.
i took the tank off a few weeks ago and the bike was out side and it still smells like gas.
when i took the gas tank off did i miss something?
also when i took the tank off i spilled a crap load of gas all over the engine area (while draning the hoses) and on the sponge that covers something (i dont know what it covers) and i belive thats what smells.

how do i remove that sponge?
the sponge is not wet and neither is any other part but if i smell the sponge its the main source of stink.
its a one piece grey wrap around and looks hard to take off.
i looked in the mannual but couldnt find the page.
and how do i get rid of the smell if its not the the sponge?

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
any advice would be greatly appreciated
thanks
