ok
i finally got my plastics ready
i will install them monday
new paint on all plastics and tank
when i was preping them for paint i removed the heat tape on the bottom of the plastics
they were crusty and falling of any way

now my question
have you removed these sliver pieces of heat tape from the plastics near the bottom of the motor

if so does your pipe make enough heat on long trips, and short, to melt the plastics???

if you removed them and put new heat tape back on did you wrap the pipes with the heat tape?

Lockhart Phillips, or any automotive store should have lined heat tape or sheets.

gcal....I will put something back on , forsure .

Headers wrapped in header tape are great at reducing the heat to your rad , BUT , it stands to reason that as soon as the heat gets a chance to exit the pipes , it will . Which will be right on top of yer new plastics/paint .

I dont think the length of the trip matters as much as the TYPE of trip . Flying down I-5 at breakneck speed is not going to heat up yer plastics like getting stuck in rushhour traffic [no airflow thru yer fairings to carry the heat away]

have a glued 1....RSD.
