Hard kill vs Soft kill?

I just swapped ECU's and set up my shifting through it. I set it for hard kill...and 60ms. The pause seems long and hard while the bike unloads to shift....if I'm using hard kill can I come down more on the kill time as a result? Before the swap the kill was set through my PC3 for 70ms and it was just a blip...but I'm assuming that was a soft kill. Just wondering what's best for racing.
