Gen 2 exhaust cam in gen 1 ?

I've searched and searched for an answer to no avail. What I have found is that a gen 2 exhaust cam is very similar to a gen 1 Intake cam. Is it possible to just simply bolt in a gen2 exhaust cam in a gen 1 without doing a adjustable timing gear ? Instead of doing the old intake cam ontk exhaust side swap...

Thank you ! If I do the gen 1 intake on exh side do I have to put adjustable sprocket on both cams or just the swapped cam ?

I guess you could put one on the exhaust side only but why? I'd buy both and set them up around 106/108. Do it once, do it right and be done with it.
