Gen 1 Gen 2 Fuel pump interchangeable??

Will my Gen 1 fuel pump bolt in to a Gen 2 gas tank and will the gas cap swap out? Im only concerned if they will bolt on not wiring plug ins? Ive searched the forum for any threads on this but can't find any info. Thanks.

Tanks are different from Gen-I to Gen-II. Different bolt pattern on the cap.

You didn't say what year.

99-00 used external fuel pump with a screen filter inside the tank. 01-07 use internal fuel pump inside the tank & the bottom of the tank is completely different.

Haven't messed with my 08 yet.

the internal pumps will bolt up,,,the caps have a different bolt pattern.
