Gas Guzzler

Hello, I wanted to ask anyone why I my bike may be drinking gas. My buddies all own 600's, R1's, GSXR 1000s, and a yamaha sport touring bike. I rode yesterday and I believe it was about 200-300 miles but I had to fill up about 4 times. the only real engine mod is a PCIII, K&N filter, and akrapovic titanium bolt on pipes. I have alot of other goodies on it but those are the main ones I figure would have an effect on fuel consumption. Does anyone know how to fix this as well.

side note: my map is for yoshimura pipes, not akras but I was told by the company that, that is the closest map that they have. thankslease:

I average about 220 miles between fill ups. It usually takes around 4.5 gallons to fill the tank.

Of course it takes a little more if I have been to the Dragon

I think it may be the PCIII mapping. other than that, it should not drink as much gas. I think I receive better MPG before I added the PCIII, which is why I got it in the first place.

75 miles to a tank?? Even flogging the crap out of it, you should get at least 20-25 MPG

You need to dyno tune it to get the best results. Sounds like you are running extremely rich. Most of the time, I putt around, but even being more spirited, I get 41mpg. Adding a map to the PC may help, but it will not be accurate until its tweaked for your particular bike. If your in TX, hit up JohnnyCheese, elsewhere, not sure.

you should be fouling plugs or see black smoke, your running way to much fuel through the ole girl.
I am getting 45-50mpg on the highway. 40-45 in town.
Yosh bolt ons factory ecm.

If your getting that bad of mileage you would be smelling the raw fuel coming out of the tail pipe. I have my 08 with, PCIII Micron pipes, and no cat at the track and I still averaged 19-22 MPG. That was 70%-90% throttle for 2 hours of heavy duty flogging.

I'll bet you PCIII map is way off for cruising speed RPMs. Get that beast to a Dyno that does AFR measurment so you can find out where to lean it out properly. You should be getting 38-45 MPG if you not flogging it.

I get about 35, Ive got cams, small airbox mod, PCIII, 44lb injectors and yosh slip ons, oh and 5 more teeth. Sound about right? wish i could get better....
