Flat tire!

Need some valuable opinions quick! I have a brand new Avon and she went flat. There is a very small puncture hole (size of a finish nail) just off the center line of the tire. The object is no longer there yet the tire only slowly loses air. Also the hole is in the meaty part of the tread and not close to any grooves. IS IT SAFE TO PATCH THIS TIRE? If so would the bike shop or a tire shop be the best bet?

In the US, the tire manufacturers will never say its safe to patch. If it were me, I'd install a mushroom patch and forget about it. I reccomend Stop N Go
