FI problems

I went to the drag strip the other night and my bike kept dying and the FI warning and light would come on. It was nearly impossible to restart and it was smoking some when I was trying to restart it. I was wondering if it may be bad gas possibly because I have never had a problem with my bike at all. I was also wondering if someone could tell me how to run the self dignostic test without that special tool. I think you can just use a piece of wire ro something can't you? Thanks guys.

There is a connector on th left side of the Busa under the hump, sort of looks like it many people jump it out with a paperclip and t pulls the codes onto the Dash...
