Hey I'm a newbie here and am about to purchase a new Busa! How long after I buy it should I wait to install a new pipe? The dealer where I plan to buy suggested I wait a year before changeing anything?

Welcome to the board! What color scheme did you choose? Some people don't even make it home with the stock exhaust. When is more related to when you can afford to make the change and decide what you want.

Bro, you can buy a pipe today and put it on. Depending on the pipe, I would suggest for you to buy a Dynojet powercommander fuel management system also so that the bike runs smoother after you install the new pipe.

Do a search on exhausts, and I promis you will get about 500 threads in just the past year!

Welcome to the board. I rode the bike a year stock, performance-wise, before I did any mods such as exhaust, PC, etc. But, that's just me. Comfort with the bike and money are the big questions.

For color I am still decideing between the blue/silver and the red/black. I think i'll wait then put a hindle 4to1 on it and yes the powercommander is a must!!! I can't wait to get this bike and ride it!! I have always road triumph's my last was a 96 1200 Daytona, but now where I live there is not a dealer within 500 miles of me theres no way I'd buy one!! So after making the rounds of all the dealers the bike I liked the best and was the most comfortable on was the busa!!! You guys have a nice forum here!!! I got a lot of good info before I decided what I was going to buy! I'm glad to be a part of it!!!
Thanks!!!

Sounds like your dealer is worried about voiding the warranty. Most of time exhaust won't void the warranty, but if you keep your stock exhaust and something goes wrong, you can always throw it back on before taking it into the shop.

I put mine on at two hundred miles, only because I didn't see nitrousjunkie's HMF set-up until then. That, and I had two hundred miles on mine in about three days

. I mainly wanted to hear the bike better, but extra the oompf is a nice plus.

If not the warranty, then the only reason I can think of why he would say that is for your hide. Maybe he thinks a stock Busa would be a kinder, gentler ride for a new Busa rider than one with a few extra ponies. Yeah right!!!

I don't think thats right either. I'm not a begining rider and they know that, The sales guy that told me this also told me he doesn't do any mods on his untill after there at least a year on his bikes, he has a busa and is waiting on a 05 GSXR1000. I found this advice odd and thats why I asked the forum this question

The dealer closest to me told me that if I did put different mufflers on to keep the originals because the area rep would deny warranty coverage if it was changed and he had to inspect the bike for piston failure or something like that. Other dealers told me not to worry about it.

If you go with bolt-ons, I don't think you'll have to do any reprogramming (I didn't, anyway) and as you'll find out, the Busa has enough get up and go for all but the most hard-core speed addicts, so I question the actual benefit of a full system unless you are racing.
