Well, last night in the dark, I learned that the bicycle style reflectors they put on in the back were in fact held on by nuts and bolts, not just screws, and that its a real bastich to get into the tail without taking the whole thing apart

Took me a while to fish that first nut out

Anyway, my question is the front reflectors - looked like they were held on by the same bolt that holds the caliper, is this right?

If I remove the front reflector (the black bracket) will I need a washer or something to mimic the spacing of the bracket, or will the bolt just screw in far enough to secure the caliper?

I know its dumb, but I'm pretty new to this machine, and don't fancy messing with anything real important...like brakes... just yet.

No, you'll be fine without a washer. Just make certain it's torqued back to spec, and you're good to go!
