Be careful bro!  Having no chicken strips means having little or no reserve left when in the twisties...  I learned that lesson last year the hard way.  Don't want anyone else to got through that.

Other than that, looking good!
I call them saftey strips...

Keep us posted on those tires, they are my next pick for tires and I'm very interested in the milage of them. They sound like some great tires.

Dude, you're posting up pictures of your tires. What's worse, I'm looking.:(
No, I'm posting up pics of a personal accomplishment to share it with some friends that have been around since I started this hobby. I've only been sport riding for... what?... two years now? And have been part of this forum, and family, since I started. This is the first time I've ever been that far over on a tire. I was just proud of how far I've come in the past couple years and wanted to share it with the folks who have followed along with me. That's all...

Sorry BT. I've followed your posts and have enjoyed most, but I think as a fellow rider that I've got an obligation to say something when something doesn't seem right. If you've practiced your MSF drills which you should still be doing regularly especially if under 2 years of riding, you'd have scrubbed the strips off by doing U-turns.

There are several guys that I ride with that even after a day at Jennings had around 1/4 inch of strip on their tires while mine were melted all the way down. On the track, they handed me my ass. I found out I needed to work more on my form as I was using more lean angle than I needed to due to flaws in my form.

I'm not trying to blast you, I'm just pointing out things that have made me a better rider. Keep riding and improving as we all should.

Well, to be honest, I've never taken the MSF course so I don't do "MSF drills. I do occasionally find a big parking lot and practice low speed stuff, and did do one recently, but it was after I lost the strip. I finished off my ride the same day in the parking lot doing low speed maneuvers, as in VERY low speed. Nothing that would scuff the edge of the tire.

As I said earlier, in the corner that I'm sure got the strip I was leaned way over and wasn't hanging off very much due to no knee pucks/leather. I'm sure with better "form" and hanging off, less lean angle would have been required to make the corner. Not saying my form is perfect. Just saying that I did NOT cheat the strip off by pushing the bike under. My upper body was left of center, I just couldn't hang off for fear of touchin' my leg down.

You're right... I still have a lot to learn and still need improvement on my skills. The fact remains that the strip os gone from riding, not from parking lot maneuvers.

Honestly "parking lot maneuvers" can be just as challenging as anything else on a bike. Lead a group of riders, miss a turn, and then watch all hell break loose as you try to get them to turn around on a two lane road.

I'm saving up vacation time now so I can take a weekend off it need be. Burned up most of my vacation time this past Christmas to spend it with my family. It builds a lot slower than I can burn it!
drooling3.gif

When you get an approximate return date hit me up and we'll start workin' up the plan.
beerchug.gif

Now, I've gotta go to bed. Been up 24 hours now. Got up at noon yesterday worked 12 hours (6pm to 6am), stayed up until 0830 for 4 hours of pursuit training... Crashed three patrol cars... thank God it was on a simulator (which is much harder to "drive" than a real car, by the way...)
biggrin.gif
Just got home from that. I'll get about 4 hours of sleep, work 12 more, then stay up for court tomorrow for God knows how long. Maybe I'll get to finally get some real sleep Wednesday evening.
drooling3.gif
This is the only drawback to nightshift for me. Havin' shid like court and training fall on my work days... I've worked 12, stayed in court ALL day and worked another 12 before getting to sleep. I'm gettin' too old for that shid though.

its better than the sandpaper trick that most people I know use
What sandpaper trick?
rock.gif
I've only known people to use sandpaper to get rid of the slick compound they use on brand new tires. The sanding clears away the thin layer of oily material on the tire thus making it more suitable for harder riding.
