Went for a ride on the addiction today trying to beat Hurricane Dennis's swipe at the state of Georgia. Missed it a bit and had to ride through two showers in about 30 min. but made it back no problem. Busa was totally stable even at 70 in the rain. Anyway two questions:
I have some kind of white "stuff" (no adult comments on that phrase please) in the corners of my overflow tank and on the bottom. If I tap the plastic resivour(sp) it doesn't move so doesn't seem to be bubbles. Its an 03 and I have no idea if or when the radiator has been flushed. Only has about 2.5k miles on it though. Also where can I find out what the buttons on the dash near the speedo and tach do. I bought the Haynes manual but it doesn't cover those basics like the owners manual would. I'm pretty sure they deal with the trip odo and may give me mileage or distances. Like I said, got it used without manual. Since the rain ride of course now its filthy, what is the agreed on best cleaner to use for making it beautiful again. Thanks.

Some sediment and "stuff" at the bottom of the coolant overflow is normal.

top button sets the clock

bottum button steps throught the odo, trip odo A, and trip odo B. There is also aprox. gas milage for each of the trip odo's.

I leave B alone and reset A every time I fill up.

DITTO: THAT WHITE STUFF IS AT THE BOTTOM OF MY OVERFLOW AS WELL. IT HAS BEEN LIKE THAT FOR YEARS. I ASKED MY MECHANIC AND HE HAD NO CLUE. RECENTLY, I HAD READ IN MY HAYNES MANUAL THAT A WHITE EMULSION WOULD DEVELOPE IN THE A-FREEZE RESEVOIR INDICATING THAT THERE IS A BAD SEAL IN THE WATER PUMP. I DISASSEMBLED MINE AND NOTICED NO WEAR. MY ADVICE IS "DON'T FRET". IT REMAINS A MYSTERY WITH US ALL I GUESS?

i got the same gunk in the bottom of mine. Aside from being rather unsightly, i dont think it is something to worry about. Especially with all the folks here that have the same pile of (insert adult comment) in theirs as well.
