Compatible wheel bearing grease

Is there an automotive alternative to the "A" grease suggested by the manual for front/rear wheel bearings that anyone is using?
(bike dealer is across town, parts store down the street)

I do not see the service recommendation for repack but I figure at 8K it is probably a good idea while I have the things apart. Comments? (they look pretty dry to my eye in the second place)
