Chrome is easier to maintain than polished wheels and some painted wheels. Apply wax to them while doing the rest of the bike and dirt falls off during the next wash with minimal scrubbing. Chain Lube wipes off easily as well.

Quality chrome looks great, but I like the blacked-out look myself. Easier maintenance as well. Just my .02

Up keep involved with constant cleaning to maintain the bling bling. You can't beat the look however. Good luck on the research, price should run about the same, but really can't say for sure.
