can you paint the wheels?

i was wondering since i gotta take my wheels off and put new tires can i paint the rims?

if so do i use regular ppg paint?

because i heard you can only powder coat or polish/chrome

they told me if i paint the wheels it will flake off.

Personally I would not paint them, if any brake fluid gets on the paint it will peel right off, and it will chip either. I am getting mine chromed. But you could also get them powder coated to match your bike. One of my friends around here got is 900RR rims powdercoated Silver for 125 ea.
