Cam Chain Tensioner? How To?

I think the cam tensioner is going, hearing the clicking noise and it has about 20k miles. How to you replace??

I suggest getting a manual and maybe seeking out a good mechanic before tearing in.

As for "clicking".....are you sure it is the cam chain?

I dont think so, I thought it was an easy fix?

call your local dealer with your VIN number.....see if the recall has been done....

call 2 more and do the same thing if the first says it has been done???

yes replacing it isn't hard...but why eat the expense? It is/was a recall item that Suzuki will actually pay the entire bill for.

Is a manual cam chain tesnsioner better than stock????

That is arguable... The manual one you have to be careful not to make it too tight...and you also need to keep adjusting it. The stock ones use an oil line for hydraulic pressure to auto-adjust the tensioner.

Stay with the self adjusting chain tensioner it does it's job quite well, save your money for other projects
