I know this is a triple compound tire but does anyone know for sure exactly how it compares to th 015? Is the 016 the same as the 015 on the edge and gets a couple stages harder as it goes to the center for longer wear in the center or.....Is the 016 the same as the 015 in the center and get 2 stages softer as it goes out toward the edge for better cornering. In other words is the 016 better than the 015 because it's harder in the center for longer wear or is the 016 softer than the 015 on the edges for better cornering traction? It's one or the other but I can't find any one that knows for sure.

I like the 015 on my K8 now but I am thinking about going to the 016 in the rear when this one is gone. 2000 miles on her so far and she definitely ain't new anymore and is almost half worn. I like the 016 because it has three compounds. One compound in the center that is supposed to be comparable to the 015 then another softer compound on the turn in shoulders and then another compound that's even softer on the edges. This might work OK with the stock front until the next time when I change both.
Run the BT015 at 35 lbs and it will stick very well.  Mine didn't start loosing traction in the corners until it got down near the wear bars.  I got 5400 miles out of my OEM tires even with a track day and aggressive riding.
5400 miles!! Do you weigh like 5 stone

I scrubbed a set 015's in 2200 miles LOL

So the BT016's... are they an upgrade from the O15's or not?

I have almost 4500 miles on my bike and i am going to need a new tire before long. What do you guys suggest for someone that does more day trips then anything? I am not so much into the twisters but do like them every now and then. This is my first sport bike so i don't know much about them. Thanks in advance, Doug
go back with your 15, it sounds like it will do exactly what your asking for outta of a rear tire

be careful with the factory tire if you do a tire roast prior to changing (i always do a burnout to reward a tire at its end) the factory tire has steel bands that will start to come out and hit bodywork (found out the hard way). i got about 3600 on the factory tire, went with a piolot road ct2, harder center, but has the sport sides, very good tire, 1500 on it now and no sign of wear, no chicken strips either:thumbsup:

If I'm riding hard, the 016s feel good and stable giving lots of confidence, but to be honest, at lower 'normal' riding speeds, I much prefered the 015s. I seem to have to 'steer' the bike a lot more now with the 016s at lower speeds (like in traffic). Plus the 015s handled as well as I needed (and I do push it a bit!)

I weight a bit more than that.

My Busa has accumulated more miles leaning over than on the center of the tires. I also try to be very smooth on the throttle. That's the only way I can explain it.

I have Pilot Powers now. I will be running the BT016 next.

Soooo I've been to their web site several times looking for the answer and nowhere does it say exactly how the 016 compares to the 015. Is the 016 the same as the 015 in the center and softer on the shoulders and edges or is it the same as the 015 on the edges and harder in the center? The fact that it's suppose to last longer in the center leads me to believe the latter.??? I've asked this question before and can't seem to get a sure answer. There have to be some racer-tire junkies out there that know. If the 016 is harder in the center then it seems like it might slip more on hard acceleration and might not wear any slower than the 015. Can someone please clarify this for me?

It is softer on the sides and going by the mileage I got out of the BT 015 vs. the BT 016...I would say the centers are the same :beerchug:

I have about 500 miles on mine now. The tire compounds in the centers seems to be a little different to me. The BT-015 would look pretty crazy after some hard riding, you could see the rubber wadding up and coming off. The BT-016 has not done this yet and I have been doing about the same type of riding. It may be that all of my riding on the 16has been in significantly cooler weather.
