Breather pipe? Need help ASAP.

Hello.
I'm throwing my engine together and ran into a problem.
In the manual it says to replace o-ring on the breather pipe (by oil strainer)
the problem is that there was no o-ring on mine and there is no groove for o-ring.
Is there some models w/o o-ring?

For some reason in the manual they show picture of that pipe with o-ring. May be different applications??
