Any adventure riders out there?

I have always wanted to get into adventure riding! I love watching the Dakar rally races and watching vids of people riding through mountains and in the middle of nowhere. Anyone into this? I have no idea where to start doing this or where riding areas might be around me?

LOL, As we got older LOL, 24 or so we all purchased a Camper, 6 miles to the Gal with a 426 wedge dodge engine, Gas back then was 99' a gallon, I remember driving from LI, NY to West Virginia with a top speed of 55 mph downhill 60 maybe. We had Hamburgers and hotdogs wrap in foil cooking them on the exhaust manifold as we drove down the road, We remove the center console to get the food.
