I dont know how much of an electronicz wiz you are or if a company makes one but here is my idea.

Mercury switch or motion detection switch wired to a pre paid phone that is hard wired and hidden on your bike so the battery stays charged.
If the bike detects motion it dials your phone number.
Ive heard of this being done and also the prepaid with a GPS tracking hidden on the bike.
The reason they use prepaid is your not charged a monthly fee like lojack.
GOOGLE it with keywords DIY PREPAID GPS PHONE CAR Motorcycle ALARM

2112rush2112 I remember your thread regarding the theft of your bike. Not to belittle the event but didnt you say the Lojack was not properly installed and checked for operation ?

Like others said, if they want it they will take it.
Good insurance is your best bet.

Never park, never sleep, never stop moving.

If ya can't do that, get insurance, never leave the key in it, never leave it alone in public and keep it in a garage/out of sight at home and hope for the best.

Any bike left alone can be stolen in under a minute. Maybe 5 minutes if it's shackled to something significant with the worlds strongest shackle...but that won't stop a determined thief. Even lo-jack is no guarantee. A member here, recently, had his back stolen, contacted lo-jack and (wait for it)...they informed him that they system was not activated!!!! Even if it had been, a serious thief knows how to detect and disable the on-bike hardware.

Not to be a downer, but these things are prized possessions and simply easy to steal. All you can do is not be the easiest and/or the most desireable target and hope for good luck.

Edit: Was it 2112 that had the lo-jack issues? Sorry to tell you your own story. Perhaps just pray to the Priests of the Temple of Syrinx! :) :beerchug:

Avoid crimes of opportunity. Keep the bike in a secure area, well lighted, I did not see cover mentioned, but covers do help. Locks help in this area, but are easily defeated, well installed alarm system with paging :dunno:

Most of this is common sense stuff guys. The harder you make it on them the more secure your property is.

I saw a show on TV where the cops setup bait cars and went fishing. Anyone could stroll upon a car with keys in it but a motorcycle theft requires a lot more premeditation and equipment. Maybe cops could start using motorcycles as the bait and catch the more dedicated scum.

You can use a common chain, cable locks or locking skewers so your bike will be secured.

Personally...I think the immobilizers are not going to help on a bike. If the wheels/handlebars are locked...they aren`t going to attempt to drive it off anyway. It would be a grab and load like the video above.

Im going with the noise myself. Using a python 460hp alarm, a dei proximity sensor, and the dei 516l voice module. The sensor has 2 steps..outside and inside. So it gives 2 different signals. Using that with the voice module (programmable) and record some loud, rude, obnoxious messages on it..and it should at least make em go "whaaa?". Anything different than the norm will get attention from everybody in ear shot :)

Congrats on your purchase. I find the Scorpio SR900 well worth the money. its a 2nd pair of eyes when i'm not around. It has good range for the keyfob. should definitly invest into some sort of alarm system with 2 way paging capabilities.

gives you some piece of mind.

A friend of mine had his SV1000 stolen right from next to his front door by 2 guys and a truck with a Tommy Lift on it. Neighbor saw it, but by the time the cops go there there truck was gone.
