I have an opportunity ot get an alum subframe......is it worth the weight difference, or is it a waste of time?

You might also want to consider 'why' Suzuki changed from aluminium to steel.  (I've seen pictures of Hayabusas with collapsed subframes.)

Yeah, unless you have a bike for racing and need to save ounces, get it but if not don't.
