After two weeks how attached would you be?

Cute dog, ya did the right thing, and besides, when the leg is all healed up you can wear the collar cone, it makes drinking beer real easy.... cheers ken

Just like in humans, the pain meds will slow down her digestive tract. Ur correct, way too cute how could you say no to that face?

Well three days later I'd say the patient is doing ok...

I hope she learns to relax soon.

As you can see she's really stressed.

Did the vet say anything about feeding her milk to help speed up the bone healing process? Any extra calcium?

No. They did emphasize that due to her age it will be set within a couple weeks and after a month or so it will be healed. After about six weeks she said coco won't know what happened.

I'm getting a cd with the X-rays tomorrow. I'll post them up so you can see the break.

Well last week on Thursday we had our followup visit. They removed the cast which was actually 2nd one and put a temporary splint on her leg. I had to have first cast removed and a new one put on 2 weeks ago because the first one moved down her leg about an inch or so. They had to sedate her to do this but again did not charge me for the sedation and new cast. this past Thursday they took another set of xrays and said the bone is healing quite rapidly and perfectly (Thank you God). Dr said that she may be able to have splint removed and go free this weekend. We will have to see. They will take another set of Xrays this week to see how strong it looks. All in all she is doing quite well. A little upset to be in the crate more than normal but she will be fine. Thank you all for the pms and good wishes. Dan thank you again for the well wishes.

Pic of her with splint.

This is an Xray of her leg the day she broke it. You can clearly see the fracture. I have not seen the latest set but the Dr told me that it has healed and ther is a nice callous covering the break.

My only question: WHY DID YOU GET HER KAWI GREEN?!

Well.... The first splint they put after second cast was Suzuki blue but she was still a bit hung over from anesthesia and when she took a nap afterward she relaxed a bit too much and peed on herself and new splint. This was an hour after I had just gotten home from the vet. I called them up and they said bring her back to have a new one put on. She came out with the green you see now. Again they did not charge me for putting the new splint on her. The place really has done right by me. Palm Beach Veterrinary Specialists is the name and I'll tell everyone they are good folks.

awe man shes so damn cute, they are just part of the family bro just sit back and enjoy:thumbsup:

Yaay, I am glad they got a cast on her that she can walk with:cheerleader:
You just saved this dogs life. Any person can make the decision to put a dog down
but you sir are a man to make the correct decision.

Good doggy, pissy on Kawi Green till you get Suzuki Blue:laugh:

From personal experience when they break their leg when they are young they are NEVER the same. My dad and grandpa used to breed dogs and well it sucks... its a hard decision ive been there and trust me i know
