A question on shifting and speed limiters...

Sorry for this bonehead question boys and girls....I've read many of your posts over the years and I've noticed some of you folks take the bus to very high speeds above 120mph in 3rd and 4th gear. I know the limiter will kick in at 11,500 rpm...but I'm wondering what does that do to the gear box? At 120 or so I figured you'd be in 5th or 6th for sure just to save your transmission...but I have also learned about "powerband" and have a much easier time dusting Z12s and others when in lower gears...I'm just worried about the tranny....don't want to explode the tranny

what sayeth you wise men of this board.....?

The tranny will last longer than the motor will bumping off of the rev limiter in 1st, 2nd, 3rd.... Not even an issue, rap the hell out her & go!!
