I have a 1999 hyabusa and cant figure out how to fix this problem. I can start it up fine when cold but if it is idling too long, stopped too long or shut it off and try to restart in a few minutes it will not start. this happens days and nights leaving me stranded until it cools down and I can restart it. the waiting period depends on the weather outside, if day and hot outside could be 30 minutes or more, at night 10-30 minutes. headed home at 8pm the other night rode for 30 minutes on highway stopped left it idling and it shut down on its own and wouldnt start, sat on side of road for 30 minutes! so frustrating. any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been stranded too many times.

I believe the 99-00 are known to vapor lock. My bike does the same if I sit in stop and go traffic too long. I believe going to internal fuel pump or putting the fuel pump in a alternate location fixes the problem.

Please see all my posts on solution to 1999 fuel problems. The hoses must be changed , fuel pump inspected/replaced and all filters replaced.

Part of the problem is the fuel pump holder swells as well as it was never meant for ethanol and other fuel additives and will make removal of the fuel pump a real challenge if swollen.

Step 1 is the first link. Step 2 is the LONG TERM solution to the problem. This needs to be a sticky, I have posted this many times.
