1397 kit self install?

Anyone get a kit from Ape or another and do their own install? Anything extremely difficult about it?

Previously a diesel mechanic for 6 years before changing fields. Very experienced in tearing apart Hummers to the frame and rebuilding them. Have rebuilt many Diesel engines and transmissions.

With that in mind think it’s something I can handle? Thoughts?

you could do it yourself... do ure howework and go slow... but at least price out how much it would cost a real busa engine builder to do it... there is probably a reason certain guys make a living building these motors.... another thing to keep in mind is that MOST the HP gains that come from a 1397 or 1441 motor is in the heads and cams... IMO doing a 1397 without a ported head is pointless.

I would definitely do the head. I’d send it out while rebuilding the motor. That’s where the power is!

My other thought was bringing it to carpenter for the 200hp for $2500. Turn key....... lol

something to think about also.... let me give u a hint... its best when ure engine builder IS ure tuner... that way... these 2 guys cant point fingers at one another....
