08-09 stock exhaust gutting?

I love the look of the big pipes on these bikes. I have seen where ppl has made them shorter and gutted them. I wonder how it would sound to leave the pipe the same length as stock but with nothing inside?? Anybody got any pics or details on how to do it?? Thanks
