I'm sure the obama admin will more than introduce the whole country to Chicago's idea of gun control. That chicken above better run for cover because the next four years will not be a false cry that the sky is falling. All they have to do to succeed is to make enough people think it can't happen so that they don't stand up and fight against it. By the time people realize what happened it will be too late.

most gun laws are.
You want to reduce gun crime, make a felony committed with a firearm
25 years, full sentence no paroll first offense, 2nd offense...capital punishment.
My POS nephew has been arrested 6 times in 5 years.
1 arrest was:
4 counts assualt with a firearm
1 count felon in possesion of firearm
1 count possesion of firearm with SERIAL NUMBER FILED OFF
1 count concealed weapon no permit.
(No jail time)
He was arrested 5 TIMES after that on mulitple counts each time
with a firearm related charge (STILL) in each arrest and the MOST
he ever got was HOUSE ARREST.
and congresses solution is take my guns...
I would be you a shinny new quarter he has gun in his possesion
as I type.

From what I have read of this it is very similar to the Illinois FOID (Firearm Owners ID) I have only hit the high points so far but it appears the proposal is that everyone will have to send a fee and an application to the government. They will in turn do a check on you and if qualified you will receive an ID card. If you are caught in possession of a firearm without the card, watch out. There are also provisions in it for gun transfers as well as a provision that you must notify them of a change of address.
It all sounds harmless at first, a way to verify who can own a gun and who can't. What many don't think about is this. This is a way for them to track who owns a gun and who doesn't. Pretty much a national registration system. In the event gun control becomes even stricter they know where to find their gun owners.
Here's why it is meaningless. The criminals and those who can't qualify for a license, or ID card, are the ones that are most likely to commit a crime with a gun. The black market will still exist and those who can't get a license will still get guns and use them to commit crimes. In essence it is another restriction on the wrong group of people. The liberals supporting it will get a warm fuzzy and tell people they are looking out for them but at the end of the day it will do NOTHING to reduce gun violence. To prevent gun violence they need to get tough on those who commit crimes with guns, enforce the laws already on the books and take these people off the streets.
The dealers already do a background check which is provided by their state governments so why do we need this?

Thank God for the Supreme Court. And no all they care about is how much money they can extort from weapons and ammunition manufacturers.
Yeah but...the Supreme Court is not exactly a conservitive arm of
reason either...and with Obama possibly picking a couple justices in his
term, they could easily swing the other way.
And Supreme Court decisions seem a biotch to turn around once
a decision is rendered...unless it's got to do with the illegal personal
income tax...then the govt' says the supreme court is irrelivant.
It's just amazing to me how transparently and completely failing the logic is and
these are our supposed..."leaders".
