I received this on GUN CONFISCATION

I really believe that are rights are being whittled away. Go down the list for yourself and see what is being whittled away. This is not just now each ruling party that comes in bends the constitution ad the bill of rights on what wver they can get away with.

You can either armchair QB, or you can act. Snopes, or not, I sent this letter to my local Senator:

Dear Senator Murray,

What is the impact that HR-45 will have on residents of the state of Washington? I am very disturbed that this bill is a way to make all gun owners criminals. Quite frankly I think that Federal control over a state's citizens is so far from the Constitution's intended goals will force the already fragile country deeply into a Socialist nation, or worse. I am very well aware of the desire to keep firearms out of the reach of criminals. This bill will not do anything to keep Mr. Crack Addict from getting a black market gun when ever he desires. HR-45 will give the Federal government the ability to decide when anyone is to be classified as a criminal, much like the Patriot Act, and jail anyone that they feel is a threat. HR-45 also allows the government to decide who is "sane enough" to own a firearm. That is a tactic of police state, not a free country. Over the past two years I have found that much of our government is repeating the same tactics of Pre-War Germany in 1937-38. I have talked to a few survivors of that era, and they are also terrified of what they see.

We don't need new laws. We need to enforce the laws we already have. We need to punish the criminals with more than a slap on the wrist. Criminals currently have better legal rights than law abiding residents. That alone should be an indicator that we need to change what is happening more than ever.

We are at a pivotal time in this great nation, and it's dangerous laws like this that will turn us in the wrong direction. President Obama publicly stated that he would not do anything that would threaten the 2nd Amendment, and HR-45 does just that. As a registered voter I expect that my elected officials should be aware that the Executive Branch of the Unites States of America is not supposed to be running the individual states, or impeding it's law abiding citizens.

The only reason a government should feel threatened, is if they are not respecting their citizens wishes and voters.

We need to act now to protect our freedoms. I swore an oath to protect the Constitution when I enlisted in the Army. I can't stand the thought of what our nation's founders would be saying right now. My family has served in the US military for three generations. We have a lot of respect for what our nation has accomplished in just over two hundred and thirty years of it's existence. I would be devastated to see it become a government controlled welfare nation.

Congress has the power to preserve the United States of America, and it is it's duty to do so for it's Citizens.

You can do what's commanded, or you can do what's right. Please do what's right for your people. America is counting on you.

Thank you,

That is one of the BEST points of view I have read TruWrecks--- I'm a Navy Vet of Desert Storm--- I stand at attention with ya brother-- thanks for that:beerchug:

once again.....a mass email about the government aking away our rights is found to be untrue....

how do you claim the government is lieing to the people, while sending out false and misleading e-mails about what the government is doing?

i have a question for all of you "Constitution" experts. what militia are you in? where do you train?

the second ammendment provides for a civilian militia to protect us from the tyranny of government.....a civilian fighting force to protect us from them....not a couple of hill-billies in ford.

With the "SB-2099" rumors circulating again in the wake of the 2008 election, the National Rifle Assocation released the following informational alert in May 2009:
Clearing Up the Rumors: The Truth About The “Gun Tax Bill”

Friday, May 29, 2009

In the last few weeks, NRA-ILA has received hundreds of e-mails warning us about “SB-2099,” a bill that would supposedly require you to report all your guns on your income tax return every April 15.

Like many rumors, there’s just a grain of truth to this one. Someone’s recycling an old alert, which wasn’t even very accurate when it was new.

There actually was a U.S. Senate bill with that number that would have taxed handguns—nine years ago. It was introduced by anti-gun Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.), and it would have included handguns under the National Firearms Act’s tax and registration scheme. This has nothing to do with anyone’s Form 1040, of course.

Fortunately, S. 2099 disappeared without any action by the Senate, back when Bill Clinton was still in the White House. We reported about it back then, just as we report about new anti-gun bills every week. Now, it’s time for gun owners to drop this old distraction and focus on the real threats at hand.

Bury your head in the sand and you will find the government taking everything you own in the name of the greater good.
