*PICS* from my trip to MANHATTAN

I leave NYC and ride the busa almost everyday. She's an 07 and sleeps on the street for now....talk about paranoia. I just don't have the ability to foot the $200 a month garage space at the moment. Traffic sucks and i actually had to replace a cracked cylinder head this year because she overheated. I'd like to believe it was because of a defect but it was partially caused by sitting in slow a** traffic. Busas are infamous for that. But she's been good for the last two months. Also, there's a lot of potholes which it is recommended the avoid if possible...obviously. The traffic can be fun to navigate at times. Its definitely nice bypassing 80 cars on the various bridges, but make sure you have your dip moves down. Also, you should know how to use your brakes...you'll need them if driving aggresively. Otherwise, if you don't feel comfortable with you bike just take it nice and easy. The cabbies will pass you and cut you off regardless along with 75% of the other drivers. I find it easier to drive faster than traffic but you will encounter situations where you need to think quick and perform evasive manuevers....whether that means going WOT or braking like a motha. It is really cool driving over the bridges and through the tunnels if the traffic is not bad....go for a ride at nighttime along the water...enough of my rambling...ITS BUSA TIME!!

Thanks for the advise, good luck with your current night-time parking situation!

I'd like to start out with some sort of group ride...there's the 80 mile, POLICE ESCORTED, HONORING OUR HEROES RIDE in 2 weeks (Oct 18). A pic of them from the 2006 ride on Central Park West is somewhere in this thread. I'll have to try for it in 2010.

And what you said about the bridges, tunnels, & cruizing along the water ::bowdown:

To all the people that want to visit NYC: when you go, make it a priority to head to The Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Center) about an hour before sunset. It usually takes about 20-40 minutes to get to the top, but it's one of the best views on this planet IMO. When you get off the elevator on the "top" floor, you can still go up 2 more levels. Its unbelievable how much you can see. Trust me on this one...
Rockefeller Center is 3 blocks from where I live. If you think its cool visiting, you should try living here. Aint nothin' like it anywhere, that I promise you. The life here, both day and night (ESPECIALLY night), is off the hook.
Sometimes I feel like I could leave this city, but for what? Everything else just falls a bit short to me. Its in my friggin' BONES, and once that happens, theres no shaking it or resisting it... once its in your blood, its all over. Theres no substitute anywhere that even comes close.

One of my favorite places to drive but not sure I'd wanna do it on a bike.
Riding a bike in the city is hands down, one of my very favorite thing to do... I just got back from my ride about 1/2 hour ago. Yeah, its dangerous, but what aspect of motorcycling isnt?? The sound of a 'Bus at 7 grand thru the Midtown Tunnel is a sound straight from God himself, IMO. Beats any music I'VE ever heard, thats for sure!!

Thanks for the cool pics, BTW... its like looking at my own backyard!

Those pics make me wanna visit NYC. I really want to see ground zero. Do we have any brothers that live in New York?

Nice pics, thanks for sharing. Much better than the pics I took when I was there on business a month after 9/11. I know one thing, you guys are braver than me to take the busa in Manhattan. I'm glad I parked in a lot outside the city and caught a bus. That's the first time I've see people actually use the bumpers on cars, regardless of how nice it was (Mercedez, BMW, etc). All of them had scratched and beat up bumpers.

I must say the people there were much nicer than what I expected. You hear about how rude everyone in the city is, but they seemed very nice to an outsider like myself.

Didn't know their were Manhattan guys out here.

I live on 43rd and 3rd, I'm attached to the Chrysler Building. I agree that their is nothing like riding the Busa in the city.

We should get together. Where do you guys live?

If you see a pumpkin busa in Time Square that is me! :)

Once I was exploring around the crew hotel in New York looking for something to photograph. After an hour I decided to return, having found nothing of interest...disappointed because the light was fading fast. I decided to take a different route back to the hotel, and just as I turned the corner to get to the hotel I found this...

I'm about 3.5 hours upstate, but there were a few others posting (supergank1, busa phill, fillmore nyc) near Manhattan. Next week is that Honoring our Heroes ride through NYC...anybody going?? I hope to make the 2010 ride. And I'll be on the lookout for that pumpkin next time I visit.

went back to NYC yesterday, just posting a few more pics. NYCHAYABUSA I was looking for you, but didn't even see any other busas....tons of Harleys and choppers, though.
